In a since-deleted tweet, Mr Trump had said there would be a “big press conference” at the “Four Seasons” on Saturday morning local time.

Trump soon altered his statement, revealing that the press conference venue was not a Four Seasons hotel, but Four Seasons Total Landscaping, a suburban business between a crematorium and an adult book store on the outer edges of the city.

“Big press conference today in Philadelphia at Four Seasons Total Landscaping – 11.30am!” the president tweeted at 9.45am.

The hotel itself tweeted: “To clarify, President Trump’s press conference will NOT be held at Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia.

“It will be held at Four Seasons Total Landscaping — no relation with the hotel.”

Four Seasons Total Landscaping, on State Road, Philadelphia, is situated next to Fantasy Island Adult Books and Delaware Valley Cremation Centre.

In a new post, Mr Trump himself later confirmed the conference would be held at the landscaping centre, but ultimately it was his lawyer Rudy Giuliani who spoke to reporters at the scene rather than the US president.

The statement from Mr Giuliani came after it was announced that Joe Biden was projected to win the US election and reiterated Mr Trump’s calls for legal proceedings against supposed election fraud.

Many on social media compared the scene to classic political comedy The Thick Of It.

Simon Blackwell, who helped write the hit show with Armando Iannucci, connected it with another of the pair’s political comedies, tweeting: “Veep still available to stream and on DVD.”

Comedy writer Zack Bornstein tweeted: “I could write jokes for 800 years and I’d never think of something funnier than Trump booking the Four Seasons for his big presser, and it turning out to be the Four Seasons Total Landscaping parking lot between a dildo store and a crematorium.

“Also the twist that they announced Biden won DURING the conference, and Rudy asked which network called it, and the reporters said ‘All of them’.”

Another comedian, Christine Nangle posted a video in which she pretended to take the call booking the space outside the landscaper.

“No we don’t have a podium, why would we have a podium? We have a rototiller,” said Ms Nangle in character. “I know that’s not the same thing I’m just trying to match your energy.”

Another Twitter user @TechnicallyRon, posted: “Remember when a bunch of lawyers tried to book the four seasons for a press conference to defend a president but accidentally booked a garden centre.

“Whenever I need cheering up, I’m just going to remember this.”

Tmadden333 posted; “Trump held an event at “Four Seasons Landscaping” by accident due to a booking error, instead of the actual 4 Seasons Hotel in Philly. You can compare the locations with these pictures. Whoever is writing this season deserves an Emmy.”

Man, 24, accused of raping two women in their hotel room says they both willingly had sex with him

A man accused of raping two women in their hotel room has claimed they both willingly had sex with him before the ‘dominant’ one left him ‘covered in scratch marks.’

Callum Kenny, 24, alleged he met the women at the door of their Ibis hotel room after the pair returned from a night out in Bristol.

He told jurors how one of the women told him she found him attractive. Kenny said the pair kissed, and he was then invited inside their room.

The defendant said he had consensual, unprotected sex with one of the women before the other was an equally willing participant, Bristol Crown Court heard.

Kenny, from St Austell in Cornwall, denies raping the two women on October, 28, 2018.

He previously admitted drinking alcohol on the night in question, as well as taking under a gram of cocaine.

Kenny told the court how he and a friend had watched a football match before heading to an event at the Motion night club in Bristol.

After the pair returned to their room at around 2.15am, Kenny claims his friend went to bed but he wanted to head out again to party.

He admitted trying to open door handles to rooms on his floor in a bid to see if anyone was awake and drinking.

The court heard how Kenny then spotted the two women as he returned to his floor after sitting in the hotel reception.

He told the court: ‘I could see these two girls walking back to their room. I said “hello'” with my arms open in an approachable manner.

‘We engaged in conversation.’

Kenny told jurors one woman told him ‘Can you keep the noise down’ after he entered their room in the Ibis hotel.

He claimed it was then that he switched his attention to the second woman, and they engaged in sexual intercourse.

Kenny told the court: ‘We had sex for five or ten minutes. Then they both performed [a sex act] on me at the same time.’

Jurors heard how, after some sleep, Kenny had sex again with one of the women before returning to his room.

He said: ‘I was exhausted. I stood up and said, “I’m going to go now.”‘

Kenny claimed he was left with scratch marks all over is body, caused by the more aggressive, dominant woman.

He said: ‘Not once was I made to feel unwelcome. Not once was there a complaint about sexual activity.’

The defendant said that afterwards he returned to his room and later told his friend he had a threesome.

He and his friend left the hotel around 11.30am and he was arrested from his Cornwall home
