CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – The Cape GIrardeau Parks and Recreation held a huge Fall garage sale filling up the Osage building.

On hand were roughly 130 vendors, more than 80 tables and hundreds of people in attendance.

People we talked with say it was a great way to be able to get out and find some things they desired.

“People can get out and they can shop and visit,” James Eaves said. “There’s a lot of selection here. You got just about anything you think you might need.”

Even vendors benefit by making some extra money with sales.

However, one lady we spoke to took it upon herself to take all of her proceeds to help out a local humane society. She said she just wanted to help the animals.

“That’s a no brainer. It’s excellent because all the items that we have is for the shelter and it doesn’t always have to be pet related,” Brenda Brown said. “So the public that comes out here and buys things they need and it benefits the animals at the same time…100 percent.”

The Fall Garage Sale lasted only 4 hours from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Cape Cod Named Among U.S.’s Best Vacation Spots: Travel Magazine

HYANNIS, MA — The coronavirus pandemic has made vacationing a challenge in 2020, but Cape Cod was still named among the best family vacation spots in the United States according to travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.

The magazine’s editorial board annually names its favorite spots, and last week, the magazine wrote that “Cape Cod has remained a favorite of vacationing families for generations — and for good reason.”

“From the moment you cross Sagamore Bridge (or Bourne Bridge—both connect the island to mainland Massachusetts), you, too, will be swayed by all it has to offer,” the magazine wrote. “The picturesque ocean views and fresh-from-the-water lobster rolls are just the beginning.”

Some of the highlights Condé Nast Traveler pointed out for families to check out included the Nauset Lighthouse, the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and the Villages at Ocean Edge Resort & Golf Club in Brewster.

Cape Cod was one of seven vacation spots listed. The list also included Catalina Island, California; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Alexandria, Virginia; Finger Lakes, New York; Moab, Utah; and Hilton Head, South Carolina.

Cape Cod Vacation Rentals, Nantucket & Martha’s Vineyard Vacation Rentals

This place holds years and years of
wonderful memories
for my entire family!

Denise R. – Rutland, MA

The sound of the waves at night, walks for morning coffee at the market, jogging along the beach,
the sunrises…It’s always hard to leave…but the anticipation of returning
always helps.

Angelo P., Pocono Pines, PA

There’s nothing better than cooking dinner with family and friends and then sitting on the deck to take in the breeze, the sunset, the stars!

Amy S. – Long Island City, NY

The access to the
magnificent National Seashore
is very special.

Sandy & Joe S. – Newton, MA

Bay scallops, a walk on a windswept beach, crackling fires, laughing with dear old friends.
I will take these memories back with me to the mainland.

Sarah F., Portland, ME

As soon as we stepped out of the car we could hear the sound of the waves lightly crashing against the shoreline.
We were at once relaxed and in vacation mode.

Kelly H., New York, NY

We had 3 generations of family together to celebrate a very special reunion, and I would not have chosen any other place to be.

Olga L., Basalt, CO

We felt as if time had stopped for a while…just the sound of the birds and the wind, the sunshine and wonderful beach with waves that kids — and parents — enjoyed surfing.

Luc N., Quebec City
