Earth Day at Robin Hill – Rescheduled to Sunday, August 16
Sunday, August 16, 2020
1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Earth Day at Robin Hill provides an opportunity to learn what we can do to keep our environment, and ourselves, healthy. Mrs. Beryl “Randy” Johnson, a long-time Moon Township resident and educator, envisioned the first Earth Day at Robin Hill as an annual community celebration of biodiversity and environments.
This year’s theme is “PEACE, LOVE, & PINE TREES.” Students from Moon Area and Rhema Christian schools participate in the t-shirt design contest, with the winners announced at the event. The Moon Township Green Team and Environmental Advisory Council invite you to participate in a family-friendly environmental event featuring fun for everyone!

In accordance with Governor Wolf’s announcement allowing for the restricted opening of parks, Moon Park will reopen on Monday, May 4, 2020. Moon Park will remain open each day from 9am until dusk. In compliance with state regulations, the playground, tennis courts, basketball courts, and volleyball court will remain closed. Restrooms will be open and cleaned on a two-hour schedule. Park patrons must adhere to social distancing, wear masks when interacting, refrain from gathering in groups, and are encouraged to wash or sanitize their hands frequently. While Allegheny County remains in the Red Phase of the Governors plan, the park is to be used as a passive space for recreation, team sports are not allowed.
In the next few weeks we are hopeful that Allegheny County will be moved into the yellow phase. During this phase sport courts and fields will reopen. Groups of 25 will be allowed to congregate while practicing social distancing. We are currently awaiting guidance for the reopening of playgrounds and the splash pad. We will continue to update the public as new information is released. We look forward to seeing you at Moon Park! Our parks staff remains committed to the community and we are working to plan summer activities that will adhere to the standards set forth by the Department of Health.
Olson Park and Robin Hill Park will remain open daily from dusk to dawn. On Monday, May 4th restrooms at Olson Park will also reopen. The restrooms at Robin Hill are currently being repaired but will open as soon as possible.
**Please use caution at Olson Park as utility work is being done near the entrance of the park.
We appreciate your patience as we continue to react to this evolving situation.
All indoor rentals at Robin Hill Park are cancelled through May 8. Please visit our Rentals page for updates on our Robin Hill Center and pavilion rental procedures.
